Eilean Donan Castle is one of Scotland’s most iconic island fortresses, famous for its dramatic setting where three sea lochs meet — Loch Duich, Loch Long and Loch Alsh.

The castle you see today is a 20thcentury reconstruction (1912–1932) by Lt. Col. John MacraeGilstrap, rebuilt from ruins using surviving medieval ground plans. 

Historically, it was a stronghold of Clan Mackenzie and Clan MacRae, guarding vital Highland sea routes. 

It is one of the most photographed castles in Scotland, appearing in films such as Highlander and James Bond: The World Is Not Enough.
