Residents of the Bundaberg region will soon have access to a new state of-the-art swimming complex with the official public opening of the Bundaberg Aquatics Centre on track for mid-2025.
Located across from the Bundaberg Multiplex in Walker St, the much-anticipated aquatics centre will feature three world class swimming pools, offering year-round training, recreation and remedial swimming options for all ages and abilities.
Of the three pools the standout, a 50m x 10 lane competition pool is designed to host high level events and training sessions. The centre will also feature a 25m x 8 lane indoor heated lap pool. Heated to 28 degrees, the indoor lap pool will allow for accessibility all year round. Additionally, the centre will also have on offer a heated program and learn to swim pool, featuring an accessible ramp, chairlift and pool hoist. Ranging in depth from 90cm- 1.4m, the program pool will be an asset not only for swimming lessons but for remedial swimming, aqua aerobics and physiotherapy.
Sport and Recreation portfolio spokesperson Cr. Carmen McEneany, has described the centre as a game-changer for competitive swimming in the region. “Beyond competition, the centre will also provide a place for locals of all levels to develop their skills, promote health and fitness, and foster a strong community spirit.”
With world class facilities and a commitment to accessibility, the Bundaberg Aquatic Centre is set to become a hub for recreation, rehabilitation and elite training in the region.
