Bundaberg is turning out to be one of the state’s luckiest cities this year with not only one but three, multi-million-dollar first division lottery wins.

The city’s streak of good luck began in January when a Bundaberg resident won $2.1 million on the January 4 Saturday Gold Lotto.

The winning ticket was purchased from Free Choice Bundaberg (Hinkler Lucky Lotto) and initially remained unclaimed, prompting officials from the Lott to launch a search for the mystery winner. After several days the fortunate winner came forward, choosing to remain completely anonymous. Free Choice Bundaberg owner Corey Nicholson said that he was thrilled his outlet had sold a division one winning entry. The store owner expressed that he was pleased that both himself and his staff were able to be part of something that will change the life of one of their customers.

Just weeks later, on February 15, a second Bundaberg resident struck gold, this time with a 3.3-million-dollar Saturday Gold Lotto first division win. According to the lucky winner who wished to remain anonymous this win was his second major lottery win after winning $40 000 in the past. “It’s all very exciting,” he told The Lott, “I don’t own a house, but now I’ll be able to buy one!”

The winning ticket was purchased from Chippindalls Newsagency on Bourbong Street. The newsagency’s owner Peter Heaps said it was great news to hear they had sold a division one prize.

The Wins keep coming

Bundaberg’s winning streak continued on March 6 when a local man secured the $10 million Powerball Jackpot. Holding the sole division one entry in Powerball draw 1503. The winner also claimed 19 second division prizes, bringing the total winnings to $10,313, 821. The hard-working man’s ticket was purchased online on The Lott website. When being informed of the massive win he told The Lott officials he had tears in his eyes. “My wife and I have worked hard all our lives, but this means we can retire early now. We’re not going to work anymore,” he said.

Has Bundaberg’s lucky streak come to an end, or could the city gain more first division lottery winners in 2025?
