Two Bundaberg artists one is a retired surgeon and the other a retiree maths teacher have been busy organizing an art exhibition to be held at The Book Boutique in Bundaberg.
The exhibition entitled, Land, Sea and Sky is now open and run through October and November. Land, Sea and Sky will showcase a variety of artworks including pastels, oils, and watercolours of landscapes, seascapes, nature and still life.
Cavin Staff (pictired in white shirt) a retired orthopaedic surgeon has previously written and illustrated a local series of children’s books entitled, ‘Tiny Turtle Tim.’ The series follows the adventures of a turtle hatchling as he is lost on land and again in the Coral Sea. The Book Boutique, where the art exhibition is taking place, is one of the outlets which displays and distributes Staff’s books.
According to Cavin the exhibition will also feature artworks that pay homage to the local area.
“There will be acrylics of a variety of local Bundaberg scenes and buildings, and lino works by Chris Lynagh,” said Cavin
Chris Lynagh who is also working on the exhibition is a retired teacher who taught at St Lukes, Bundaberg.
“I first started doing art when I retired in 2015 and I enjoy it a lot,” said Chris.
He won a prize at the Moore Park Art Festival for a photo of a storefront featuring a mannequin. He has a long-standing hobby of photographing mannequins in countries such as Germany, France and Scandinavia.
Both artist’s works will be featured in the exhibition and will be available for purchase.
“The prices for artworks will be very modest,” said Cavin
Prices will range from $40-$450. The exhibition is a perfect opportunity to buy a Christmas gift for a loved one.
The two amateur artists are excited about how the exhibition is all coming together.
