Nobody likes to fall ill on holiday, but if the worst happens, you can rest assured that you will be properly cared for while travelling in the Bundaberg Health District.
The Bundaberg Health Service District stretches as far north as Miriam Vale, down the east coast as far as North Shore Point and inland covering the Kolan, Perry, Isis and Miriam Vale Shires. There are facilities as Bundaberg, Childers, Gin Gin and Mt Perry providing inpatient, outpatient and community health services.
In addition, the Health Service District operates an integrated (inpatient, outpatient, community) Mental Health Service from the Bundaberg Base Hospital.
A Community Health Service is located within the Base Hospital campus which includes a wide range of services.
Facilitating the provision of public health services within the Bundaberg Health services district is the Bundaberg Health Services Foundation, established in 1999.
The Foundation acquires funds from the public through donations, fund raising activities, gifts and bequests. Apart from meeting minor administrative charges, all monies raised are applied towards maintaining and improving public health services.
In the past, wheelchair scales capable of weighing more than 300kg have been supplied to Bundaberg Hospitals renal unit. A project the Bundaberg Health Services Foundation is currently supporting will make 50 pressure area mattresses available with Bundaberg, Gin Gin and Childers hospitals.
